🏠 give a cat a home 🐱
|
I tend to acquire my cats in the usual way: by stumbling across a lonely hungry flea-covered kitten in a place kittens should not be, and taking them home. This time, the kitten in question was actually a very pregnant cat, which is how I ended up with four extra felines in my house. I've done my best to give them a good start in life, and now it's time to find more permanent homes for them. I've dubbed mama Cosmo, and with a little help from my online followers, the kittens were named: Asteroid Belt ("Bell"), Jet Propulsion Laboratory ("Jet"), and Dark Matter ("Mattie"). Don't you want to adopt a cat with a weird name from some random internet artist? You'll have a fun story to tell. And a cat! It's a great deal. |
Mama Cosmo tested negative for FIV and FeLV. All will be up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped before going to their new homes.
We're located in east central Alabama and while local-ish adopters would be great, if you're willing to travel to AL or surrounding states, we'll try to make it work! The rehoming fee is pay-what-you-can; it would be nice to recoup some of their expenses but I don't want that cost to be the barrier to a good home!

Cosmo
Female, small short-hair calico. Estimated 1-2 years old
Cosmo may be a little shy at first, but some snacks and scritches will quickly win her over! Although she isn't the cuddliest cat, her favorite place is within arm's reach of wherever I am -- which means she spends a lot of time napping next to my desk, seeming very happy for the company.
Cosmo is easy-going and tries to make friends with my own cats without pushing their boundaries. That said, I certainly don't think she would mind being an only cat, or being adopted with one of her kittens.
Cosmo has been spayed and will be ready to go home in early August!

All three kittens are curious and adventurous! They run to say hello when someone enters the room. They love climbing anything remotely climbable, hiding in boxes, playing with cat toys, playing with bits of paper they've decided are cat toys, and racing each other at truly impressive speeds. They also love a good nap in a spot of sunlight and cuddling with mama.
Bell is generally the first kitten to try something new, whether that's food or toys or places to explore! He loves roughhousing with his brother and toys that let him chase and pounce, but he also enjoys laying by the windows and watching birds. He can get talkative when it's time to eat, especially if he sees you pull out a Churu treat!
Jet may wait for Bell to take the first steps, but then he's ready to bound in at full speed. Jet is the most avid climber and will do his best to find a way up to the highest point in the room. He's the most curious about my other cats and does his best to endear himself to them. His fur is irresistibly soft, so it's a good thing he enjoys cuddles!
Mattie is small and sweet, but still has quite an adventurous streak! While her brothers are busy being partners in crime, she'll venture off on her own to play with toys or run on the exercise wheel without their interruptions. She's also pretty curious about what people are doing and will sit on my desk to watch the computer monitor until she falls asleep on a stack of books.
It has been a delight to watch them grow up to this point and I'm sure they will all continue blossoming into wonderful, unique cats!
Kittens will be spayed/neutered in late September and will be ready to go home after they've had a week or two to recover!

I'm doing my best to give the kittens lots of new, positive experiences to help ensure they are confident and well-rounded cats! Kittens and Mama will all be introduced to grooming and nail clipping, harnesses and walking leashed outside, and crating for car rides before they go to their new homes. They're also getting used to having a camera pointed at them! There's a selection of photos below, and videos shared in my Instagram stories, but there are even more I'll be happy to share with their new owners.
As mentioned above, I already have cats; all three of them were orphaned kittens I rescued and raised and ended up keeping forever. They are all incredibly loving, affectionate animals with big personalities, and I cannot imagine my life without their presence. I know Cosmo and the kittens will similarly bring a lot of joy and companionship to whoever adopts them!
